Payments Study Tour Report 2019

Early in 2019 PASA and BankservAfrica, together with the assistance of PwC, collaborated to design a study tour to India, Thailand, China and Singapore to form a deeper understanding of how these countries approached and implemented advanced, real time payments infrastructure and eco-systems. The purpose of the tour was to enable the industry to develop a shared understanding of the case for change and the potential benefits that could be realised for South Africa. This report represents the collective voice of the delegates on the tour, and the intention of this report is to inform the broader South African payments stakeholder group and leadership of the findings and potential this has for South Africa.
